  • 2001

    McKinley Medical UK is formed in July 2001, with three employees in total.

    In November, Stephen Thorpe has initial discussions with CME regarding marketing CME pumps in the UK.

  • 2002

    CME Medical UK and CME develop epidural and PCA variants of the BodyGuard™ pump for the UK.

  • 2003

    The first BodyGuard™ pain pump sales are made to Antrim area hospitals in Northern Ireland.

  • 2004

    First placements of the BodyGuard™ pain pumps in the UK.

  • 2006

    The T34™ ambulatory syringe pump is launched.

  • 2007

    CME acquires McKinley Medical UK from its US owners to form CME McKinley UK.

  • 2008

    T60™ and TPCA™ are launched. UK business team expands rapidly.

  • 2009

    Continued investment sees the team double in size once again.

  • 2010

    The BodyGuard 595™ regional analgesia pump is launched.

    Three years into the new partnership with CME, the company rebrands as CME Medical.

  • 2011

    The T34™ Ambulatory Syringe Pump becomes the market leader in pain management in palliative care (50% of Graseby MS drivers in the UK are replaced).

  • 2012

    NPSA alert drives revenues to £14.7m, a record year.

  • 2013

    CME Medical employs some 75 people across the UK with some ten agency and sub-distributor staff. Clinical training receives the Skills for Health Quality Mark.

  • 2014

    Chairman Stephen Thorpe is North winner in EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year awards. Technical training receives the Skills for Health Quality Mark.

  • 2015

    CME Medical partners with ‘The Impact Foundation’ to raise money to help with relief efforts following the earthquakes in Nepal.

  • 2016

    CME Medical celebrates 15 years of delivering innovation to support the needs of patients and healthcare professionals.

  • 2017

    BD (Becton Dickinson) acquires CME Medical UK Ltd.
